WELCOME, FATHER SICHKO!
Father Jim returns to his roots in Pittsburgh this week in order to present a mission here at St. Scholastica Parish. His father was an "all star" football player at the University of Pittsburgh, and he still has relatives in the area. Father Jim currently serves as pastor of a parish and assistant to the Bishop in the Diocese of Lexington, Kentucky. Come and welcome Father Jim back to Pittsburgh! The mission is scheduled for October 14 to 17 beginning at 7:00 p.m. each evening.
YOUTH HAPPENINGS!
October 14 & 21 INTERSECTION 10-11AM at the ministry center. Join us as we apply today's gospel to your life! We welcome all of our newly confirmed teens! Light breakfast is provided.
Hiking at Emmerling Park Oct. 25th 1 PM. Bring a water bottle and a permission form. All middle school and high school youth are welcome to explore the trails and enjoy an autumn day!
PARISH EXPO
Please come to the Pastoral Center after all Masses next weekend (October 20-21) for our Parish Expo. This expo offers a friendly atmosphere displaying all the opportunities available within the parish that need your unique skills and talents.
WELCOME BREAKFAST
The welcome breakfast will be held in conjunction with the Expo after the 9 am and 11 am Masses on Sunday 21 to welcome new parishioners. Everyone is invited to attend.
AQUINAS GUILD LUNCHEON - "AUTUMN SONG"-SATURDAY, OCTOBER 20, 11 AM, PITTSBURGH FIELD CLUB
Reservations: There are still spaces available for this beautiful event. The delicious lunch will be accompanied by a teacup auction and a fashion show by Carabella. For reservations, please call Mary Ellen Maher at 412-767-5863.
Baked Goods Sale: We welcome home-made donations of cakes, breads, cookies, candy and other home-made treats from all paris hi oners. (Please, no items requiring refrigeration.) Items should be delivered on Friday, October 19th to Lorraine Maslaney at 218 10th Street in Aspinwall. We would appreciate it if the items are packaged and priced. If you have any questions, please call Lorraine at 412-781-1964. Short on time? Baking not your thing? A cash donation to the bake sale is always welcome. We will also be selling baked goods after all Masses on the 20th and 21st.
Teacup Auction: We are still accepting your donations to the Chinese auction. If you have donations of theatre tickets, sporting event tickets, gently used household treasures and/or restaurant gift certificates, please call Sue Goodwin at 412-967-0791 or Mary Benckart at 412-968-0828. If you plan to bring your item the day of the luncheon please notify Sue or Mary in advance so that we can reserve a space and prepare appropriate signage.
SPECIAL OPPORTUNITY!! In addition to the auction items available at the "Autumn Song" luncheon, we are going to have two unique items for which bidding will open at the luncheon but remain open until after the final Mass on Sunday the 21st:
1. Two tickets to the Steelers vs. Miami Monday night game on Nov. 26
2. Two hours of playing time from the band "Shadows", a trio of keyboard, guitar and bass. Their fabulous dance music spans from the 40's through the 90's. This $300-400 value would be a fantastic addition to any upcoming party or gathering.

Will provide free medical and dental care for Pittsburgh's working uninsured. The Center is scheduled to open November 5 and will be open initially 3 days a week. It will be located in Catholic Charities' Administrative offices in downtown Pittsburgh at 212 Ninth Street.
