TO ALL ALTAR SERVERS

There will be a brief mandatory meeting of all altar servers with Father Duch to discuss current Mass procedures. All servers must attend one of these sessions.

November 11 - after the 9 am Mass

November 17 - after the 5 pm Mass

November 18 - after the 11 am Mass

ADVENT WREATH VOLUNTEERS NEEDED

It will soon be time to light the candles on the Advent Wreath. Volunteers are needed for lighting them during the weekend liturgies. Advent begins the weekend of December 1/2. Interested volunteers, please check the volunteer sign-up book in the back of the church and sign up by Nov. 18th.

SECOND COLLECTION – NOVEMBER 17/18 – RETIREMENT FUND FOR RELIGIOUS

Please be generous to all the Religious Sisters, Brothers and Priest who have committed their lives to Christ and his Church and now need financial help in their retirement years.

THE ANNUAL FINANCIAL REPORTS FOR OUR PARISH AND SCHOOL

Are enclosed in today's bulletin. We are happy to report that our parish and school are in good financial condition because of your generosity. Thank you for your on-going support. However, we would like to add that our school made a deposit two weeks after the end of the fiscal year which helped balance the account. In addition, our parish savings account amounts to $409,775.70 as of 9/30/07.

CHRIST THE DIVINE TEACHER

CATHOLIC ACADEMY

Christ the Divine Teacher Catholic Academy is having it's annual Fall Book Fair after all Masses this weekend (11/10 & 11/11). As you start making plans for your Christmas shopping, please consider stopping by the Pastoral Center to browse the wonderful selection of books provided by the Aspinwall Bookshop. Remember – books make great gifts.

CDTCA participated in the Catholic Schools Championship Race with over 30 schools and 1400 runners. Medals were awarded to the top 25 finishers. Congratulations to CDTCA medal winners: Tatiana Sunseri, Claire Kintner, Jimmy Humphrey, and David Humphrey.

Earlier in the year, CDTCA runners Tatiana Sunseri, Claire Kintner, Jimmy Humphrey, and Evan Trop were also awarded medals at the Dorseyville Middle School Invitational. There, the top 30 finishers received a medal. Over 700 runners participated.

BLOOD DRIVE

There will be a Blood Drive Sunday, Nov. 25th, at St. Scholastica's Pastoral Center from 8am to 1:30pm. If you know someone who has cancer, been in an accident, had surgery or has been burned, then you probably already know someone who has used blood. Please give blood and help ensure that it is there when members of our Parish need it. Please contact JoAnn Liebert at 412-767-4248.

Our Parish Group for Handing on the Faith will meet on Sunday November 18 at 10 a.m. in Marsico Library in the Pastoral Center. The topic is "Catholic New Feminism," and any interested adult is welcome to attend. The "new feminism" is a viewpoint among some Catholic women who think that 1970s feminism used a masculine model of success. Based in large part on Pope John Paul II's writings, it seeks to affirm women as women. Other Catholic women are not convinced, seeing the new feminism as a lot like the old sexism. If you would like to prepare for the session, pick up "Redesigning Women," an article by Renee LaReau from US Catholic magazine. It is available this weekend in Marsico Library. (As you enter the Library, look for the low bookcase on your right. Copies of the article are there.)

CATHOLIC CONVERSATIONS

Mark your calendar for Thursday, November 29, at 7:30 p.m. when we welcome Fr. Radu Bordeianu to St. Scholastica. Fr. Radu is an Orthodox priest. Married and a father of three, he is an assistant professor of systematic theology at Duquesne. We may speak with him about Eastern Christianity, ecumenism, environmentalism or other topics. "Catholic Conversations" aims at informative, engaging, and participatory talk. The session will begin as an interview and develop (we hope) into something more like a conversation. Those who attend will be invited to take part. There is no fee or registration. Please note a change of venue for the November 29 meeting—we will gather in the Library of Christ the Divine Teacher Catholic Academy.

AQUINAS GUILD NEWS

SACRAMENTS

INFANT BAPTISM is celebrated at noon on the 2nd and 4th Sunday of the month. Please make arrangements with the parish secretary at least 2 weeks prior to the desired date.

ADULT BAPTISM The R.C.I.A. program sees to the needs of adults who wish to become Catholic. Call the pastor for information.

RECONCILIATION (CONFESSION) is celebrated on Saturday, after 9:00 a.m. Mass and after Saturday evening Mass, and also by appointment.

EUCHARISTIC LITURGY SCHEDULE:

Weekday Masses: Monday - Friday, 8:30 a.m.

Saturday Morning - 9:00 a.m.

Weekend Masses: Saturday Evening 5:00 p.m.

HOLY EUCHARIST is available for those who are sick and confined to home. Call the parish office and we will bring the Eucharist to you.

ANOINTING OF THE SICK is available for those who are chronically or seriously ill. Call the parish office. A service for Anointing of the Sick will be conducted annually.

MARRIAGE Anyone who wishes to marry should contact the pastor at least six months prior to the desired date. Anyone who is married in a civil ceremony and wishes to sacramentalize the marriage should contact the pastor. Anyone planning to celebrate their 25th or 50th anniversary should contact the parish office well in advance of the desired date.

HOLY ORDERS Please call the pastor if you feel you might be called to the priesthood or the diaconate.
