PRE-SCHOOL OPEN HOUSE AT CHRIST THE DIVINE TEACHER

CATHOLIC ACADEMY (3 and 4 year old classes)

Sunday, April 6, 2008~10:00 am – 1:00 pm Located on the corner of 3^rd and Maple behind St. Scholastica Church. Go through the Monsignor Krauss Entrance to the gym. Drop-in to meet the Pre-school teacher and take a look at the classroom. Registrations for the 2008-2009 school year are now being accepted. Tuition assistance is available for those who qualify.

TERRI'S DAY, MARCH, 31^ST

Monday, March 31st, is a "Day of Prayer and Remembrance for Terri Schnindler Schiavo and All of Our Vulnerable Brothers and Sisters". There will be a talk at 7:30pm on the dignity of every human life, the ethical demands of caring for the weak and vulnerable, and the difficult medical decisions that can arise. Documents from the Pennsylvania Catholic Conference on Power of Attorney and End of Life Decisions will be available. All are welcome.

PROTECTING GOD'S CHILDREN WORKSHOP

Anyone who serves in a volunteer capacity in our parish and/or school is required to register on the Diocesan On Line Database. As part of the registration process you are required to attend the "Protecting God's Children Workshop". If you have not completed this segment of the process, we are offering the workshop at St. Scholastica on Thursday, April 10 at 6:30 p.m. in the Pastoral Center. To register for this workshop go to www.vitrus.org. Only online registration will be taken and seating is limited.

BABY NEEDS

We just found that a mother of a two month old baby girl has nothing. Anyone with extra baby furniture - crib, stroller, highchair, dresser, etc. please give Mary Catherine Scanlon a call at 412-781-6550. God bless anyone who can help.

BULLETIN CONNECTION

In today's Gospel we read how the apostle Thomas doubted the story the others told him of seeing Jesus alive. Though Jesus seems to chastise Thomas for his doubts, they actually serve to underscore again the magnitude of the miracle of the resurrection. Why would anyone believe such a story without seeing proof with their own eyes.? Yet that is what all of us are asked to do. Jesus even praises us: "Blessed are those who have not seen and have believed."

Do we deserve that praise? Is it true that we have believed without seeing the risen Lord for ourselves? How has our faith in Jesus affected us? How has his resurrection made our lives new? Jesus is truly risen from the dead. Do we act like we believe this? Do we live as his disciples?

YOUTH HAPPENINGS

Appalachia Collection~Youth who will be participating in this year's mission trip to Appalachia will be collecting after all the Masses in order to cover trip expenses including building supplies. Please be generous

Family Fun Run/Walk 5K~Saturday April 26th. 10 am at Hartwood Acres. All proceeds benefit Appalachia Mission Trip. Sponsored by St. Scholastica CYM. Pick up a form at the church entrances or email Jamiedillon@comcast.net.

Youth Mass~Saturday April 5th at 6:00 pm. Singers and musicians report at 4:30. We also need gift bearers and greeters!

Habitat For Humanity~Saturday April 5th. Meet at the Target in Harmar at 8:45. All teens and adults are welcome. Lunch will be provided. Teens must have a permission form. RSVP to the youth ministry office by Thursday.

Appalachia Meeting~12 noon Sunday April 6th in the Pastoral Center.

MARRIAGE AMENDMENT

Thank you to everyone who participated in the postcard campaign on behalf of the Marriage Amendment. The Amendment has passed out of Committee and should be presented to the State Senate this session. You may still contact your local State Senator and ask him to sponsor the Marriage Amendment.

AQUINAS GUILD

The Aquinas Guild will meet on Tuesday, April 8, at 10 a.m. in the Pastoral Center. Following a brief business meeting, Mr. Brian McKain will present an interesting program on "IKEBANA", the art of Japanese Flower Arranging. Under his direction, some members will have the opportunity to create their own floral arrangement. Coffee and light refreshments will be served. All women of the parish are invited to attend.

CATHOLIC CHARITIES

Enjoy local bluegrass bands and help Catholic Charities' St. Joseph's House of Hospitality for formerly homeless senior men when you attend the 10th Annual Bluegrass Concert Benefit, Friday, April 18th, 7:30 p.m. at Synod Hall in Oakland. SACRAMENTS

INFANT BAPTISM is celebrated at noon on the 2nd and 4th Sunday of the month. Please make arrangements with the parish secretary at least 2 weeks prior to the desired date.

ADULT BAPTISM The R.C.I.A. program sees to the needs of adults who wish to become Catholic. Call the pastor for information.

RECONCILIATION (CONFESSION) is celebrated on Saturday, after 9:00 a.m. Mass and after Saturday evening Mass, and also by appointment.

EUCHARISTIC LITURGY SCHEDULE:

Weekday Masses: Monday - Friday, 8:30 a.m.

Saturday Morning - 9:00 a.m.

Weekend Masses: Saturday Evening 6:00 p.m.

HOLY EUCHARIST is available for those who are sick and confined to home. Call the parish office and we will bring the Eucharist to you.

ANOINTING OF THE SICK is available for those who are chronically or seriously ill. Call the parish office. A service for Anointing of the Sick will be conducted annually.

MARRIAGE Anyone who wishes to marry should contact the pastor at least six months prior to the desired date. Anyone who is married in a civil ceremony and wishes to sacramentalize the marriage should contact the pastor. Anyone planning to celebrate their 25th or 50th anniversary should contact the parish office well in advance of the desired date.

HOLY ORDERS Please call the pastor if you feel you might be called to the priesthood or the diaconate.
