CAMP HELPING HAND

Camp Helping Hand (July 1, 2 and 3 from 9:00-2:00) is a great way to give your children the chance to serve others. Adult drivers and chaperones are DESPARATELY needed. Adults may join us for one or all of the days! Call or email the youth ministry office if you can help.

DO YOU USE CASH OR CHECKS TO SHOP FOR GROCERIES?

Certificates are easy to use, cost no more than what you normally spend on groceries and also help Christ the Divine Teacher Catholic Academy earn a great profit with each purchase. School representatives will be selling Giant Eagle/Get Go and Community Market gift certificates after Masses on Saturday at 6:00 pm and Sunday at 7:30 and 9:00 am during the summer months. Gift certificates can be purchased with cash or checks (made payable to CDTCA). We appreciate your continued support of our school.

BLOOD DRIVE

BULLETIN CONNECTION

Danger enters our picture of discipleship today. We are God's chosen flock, his beloved children, yet there is a shadow side. Jesus our brother showed us how to be disciples, including how to carry a cross and die on it. Today's first reading and responsorial psalm are dark and forbidding at first, but each one ends with a song of praise and hope in the Lord. In the second reading, St. Paul reminds us that Jesus' power over sin and death are given to everyone. The most reassuring words of all come from Jesus in today's Gospel reading. He doesn't promise that we won't be harmed, but he tells us we have nothing to fear. The God who notes the fall of every sparrow and counts the hairs on our heads will be with us through it all.

SCHOOL IS OUT ~ CAMP "R" IS IN

School is out. Camp "R" is in. Sessions are filling quickly. Many parents have chosen this great outdoor opportunity for their children. Camp "R" is a co-ed residential camp located in Laurel Hill State Park and accredited by the American Camping Association. ADULT SERIES

In May, Suzie McConnell-Serio was the final speaker at the Diocesan Adult Education Lectures. The DVD of her talk will be shown in the Pastoral Center Library on Thursday, June 26th at 9:15am. Suzie McConnell-Serio has twice won Olympic medals as part of the 1988 and 1992 U.S. Olympic women's basketball team. She presently coaches the Duquesne University Womens Basketball Team. Her Lecture is about "how Christ forms us through our everyday responsibilities."

C.C. BOYS BASKETBALL CAMP

Applications are now being accepted for the C.C. Basketball camp to be held this summer in the Central Catholic High School gym. The camp, now in its thirty-first year of operation, has two separate sessions for boys entering grades 4-9.

July 7-10 and July 14-17. Cost of the four-day camp is $100.00 per session. Enrollment is limited. Interested students can make a reservation or obtain information by calling Coach Chuck Crummie at (412) 208-3494 or (412) 999-1668.

SACRAMENTS

INFANT BAPTISM is celebrated at noon on the 2nd and 4th Sunday of the month. Please make arrangements with the parish secretary at least 2 weeks prior to the desired date.

ADULT BAPTISM The R.C.I.A. program sees to the needs of adults who wish to become Catholic. Call the pastor for information.

RECONCILIATION (CONFESSION) is celebrated on Saturday, after 9:00 a.m. Mass and after Saturday evening Mass, and also by appointment.

EUCHARISTIC LITURGY SCHEDULE:

Weekday Masses: Monday - Friday, 8:30 a.m.

HOLY EUCHARIST is available for those who are sick and confined to home. Call the parish office and we will bring the Eucharist to you.

ANOINTING OF THE SICK is available for those who are chronically or seriously ill. Call the parish office. A service for Anointing of the Sick will be conducted annually.

MARRIAGE Anyone who wishes to marry should contact the pastor at least six months prior to the desired date. Anyone who is married in a civil ceremony and wishes to sacramentalize the marriage should contact the pastor. Anyone planning to celebrate their 25th or 50th anniversary should contact the parish office well in advance of the desired date.

HOLY ORDERS Please call the pastor if you feel you might be called to the priesthood or the diaconate.
