WELCOME!

I am pleased to announce that Patricia Wolfson is our new parish secretary. She will be working the following hours: Monday – Friday, 10:00 am – 3:00 pm. If you have parish business, please contact Pat during these hours.

The Parish Office is still located in the Rectory, but within the next week or so, the Parish Office will be moved into the space currently occupied by the Parish Library in the Pastorial Center. The library will be moved into the Ministry Center to be used by parishioners and catechists for our Religious Education Program. Fr. Ken.

- If you have an evening meeting in the Pastoral Center you must pick up the key at the

Parish Office between the hours of 10:00 am and 3:00 pm.

YOUTH INFORMATION!

Religious Education:

There will be a meeting for all catechists on Sunday September 14^th at 10:00 in the Pastoral Center. Confirmation candidates and parents will meet Sunday September 14^th at 12:00 in the pastoral center. Religious Education classes will begin Sunday, September 21.

Youth Ministry:

Youth Mass Saturday, August 31 at 6:00 p.m. Singers and musicians please report at 4:30 for rehearsal. We also need gift bearers and greeters, if you are interested, please report by 5:30.

It's time for the Gateway Clipper! All interested high school students should reserve their spot now for the November 2^nd cruise. Cost is $25.00 per person. Space is extremely limited.

CHOIR INVITATION

Anyone interested in joining either the 9 a.m. or 11 a.m. Choir should contact Sr. Pat Baker by August 31. New members are most welcome! The first rehearsals for this season are:

Tuesday, Sep. 2 at 7 p.m. (9 a.m. Choir)

Wed., September 3rd at 7 p.m. (11a.m. Choir)

DON'T FORGET!

The St. Scholastica Parish picnic will be at Squaw Valley Park on Sunday, August 24^th from 3:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. The schedule for the picnic will be as follows: 3:00 pm Kids Games, 4:00 pm Parish Game, 4:30 pm Dinner, 5:30 pm Bingo and Moon Bounce from 3:00-7:00 pm. Chicken, hot dogs, corn and beverages will be provided. The cost of the picnic will be $5.00 per person with a maximum charge of $20.00 per family.

There will also be a "Super 50/50" drawing. After the 1^st prize winner is drawn, we will also be pulling additional winners that will win prizes that have been donated by local businesses. Prizes for bingo have also been donated. We would like to thank the following businesses for their participation: ESSpa Kozmetika, Whiteman's Flowers, One Brilliant, Lynlott Miniatures, Nota Bene, Rosebuds, J&W Variety, Aspinwall Bookstore, Voccelli's, Beans & Cream, and Brilliant Market.

Please pray for Michael Toshok, Jr. who recently passed away. May his soul and the souls of all the faithful departed through the mercy of Christ rest in peace. Amen.

COMING THIS FALL! WOMEN'S CATHOLIC SCRIPTURE STUDY

This is an in-depth study of EXODUS that will run September through May on Tuesdays from 1 to 3 p.m .(We will follow the Fox Chapel Area School District calendar.) The first class is Tuesday, September 9, from 1 to 3 pm in the St., Scholastica Parish Hall. The registration free is $50 and covers all materials needed for the 30 week course. BIRTHRIGHT

Birthright of Pittsburgh's annual Red Rose Day collection will be held following all the Masses September 6th and 7th. Birthright is a pregnancy support center that helps girls and women encountering unexpected pregnancies by providing alternatives to abortion. Please keep the unborn in your hearts and prayers.

Please mark your calendar for this annual Aquinas Guild event on Saturday, October 11 at the Pittsburgh Field Club. Proceeds will support church and community activities. 2009 GATHERING OF CATHOLIC MEN PARISH CONFERENCE LEADER (PCL) ORGANIZATIONAL KICK-OFF

SACRAMENTS

INFANT BAPTISM is celebrated at noon on the 2nd and 4th Sunday of the month. Please make arrangements with the parish secretary at least 2 weeks prior to the desired date.

ARE YOU INTERESTED IN BECOMING A CATHOLIC? R.C.I.A. is the process which enables adults to become initiated into the Church. Call the pastor for information.

RECONCILIATION (CONFESSION) is celebrated at St. Scholastica Parish on Saturday, after 9:00 a.m. Mass. For your convenience the parishes in our cluster have the following opportunities for reconciliation:

St. Joseph Parish has Sat. reconciliation from 3:30-4:00.

Madonna of Jerusalem has reconciliation on Wednesday evening from 5:30-6:45 and Saturday from 3:00-4:00 p.m.

HOLY EUCHARIST is available for those who are sick and confined to home. Call Sister Marilyn for assistance.

ANOINTING OF THE SICK is available for those who are chronically or seriously ill. Call the parish office. A service for Anointing of the Sick will be conducted annually.

NEW PARISHIONERS ARE MOST WELCOME! Please call Fr. Ken or Sr. Pat.

INACTIVE CATHOLICS Baptized Catholics who have not been practicing their faith are most welcome to return to the Church. Please call Fr. Ken or Sr. Marilyn.
